Copy of 2 pages of "The Bay State's Boston Post Canes" by Barbara Staples, published by Flemming Press 1997. This book states that Ephraim Noyes Eames (7/14/1818 - 8/10/1917) born at Islesboro, Maine and later moved to North Bridgewater now Brockton, was the recipient of a cane in 1909 at age 91. In 1992 the cane was given to Bourne Historical Society; no information on who hadz it 1917 - 1992. Ephraim was son of Josiah Eames and Rebecca Noyes (on Bridgewater) and grandson of Elisha Eames who had a quitclaim deed from Gen Knox for land near Dark Harbor, later the site of the first Islesboro Inn (Farrow p 201-202).
