The original door from the Second Baptist Church is painted white on the outside and measures approximately 77 1/2 inches high, 36 inches wide and 2 inches thick. Two top panels are approximately 32 1/2 inches long x 10 1/2 inches wide. Four bottom panels are approximately 6 inches high x 11 inches wide and 11 inches high x 11 inches wide. There are two deadbolt locks on the outside left-hand side. The newer one (modern) is brass and approximately 1 1/2 inches in diameter with keyhole. The older one is approximately 2 inches x 1 1/4 inches. It is black with a keyhole approximately 7/8 inch long and 3/8 inch wide. A "skeleton" key was used. The handle is black. It is 8 1/2 inches long x 1 3/4 inches wide. The handle is attached to a plate by posts 4 inches apart which are 1 1/4 inches long. The outside measurement of the handle is 5 inches.
On the side opposite the locks are two hinges (one at the top and one at the bottom of the door). One is 7 1/2 inches from top of door to the top of the hinge and the other is 15 1/2 inches from the bottom of the door to the bottom of the hinge. One section of the hinge is 3 1/2 inches x 2 inches. The rest of the hinge is embedded in the door.
The inside of the door is painted cream color. There are six panels matching the panels on the outside of door. There is a deadbolt lock of brass with knob so it can be opened from the inside without a key. It is approximately 2 inches in diameter. The inside of the old fashioned deadbolt lock is painted the color of the door. The box is approximately 4 1/2 inches long x 3 1/2 inches wide. In the back part of the keyhole is a slit. The handle is 7 1/4 inches long by 3/4 inch wide and tapers to 1/4 inch wide. Latch handle to latch curves down approximately 2 1/2 inches. Directly underneath is a box approximately 9 inches x 4 3/4 inches with a keyhole. The hinges have 4 holes for screws.
