3/4 length portrait of Henry Boardman (b 5/14/1794, d. 1872) and his wife Catherine Sprague, daughter of Jonathan Sprague. Married 12/4/1818. The portrait itself is 16" x 20" and is done in the photographic/charcoal technique common to the late 19th c. It is framed in an ornate wood frame with plaster adornment 30.5" x 26" in poor shape. For genealogy see Farrow p. 171 Henry is dressed in a dark suit , shirt with collar and a floppy striped ascot/tie; Catherine is in a dressy black dress with pleated blouse, a white kerchief and collar. They appear to be 40-50 years old.
