"Silver Wings and Other Addresses to Children" by Rev Andrew G Fleming. Inside cover in pencil in a chldish hand is "Desdemona Pendleton" and on the facing blank page is "To Desdemona Pendleton from Capt N E Pendleton, Papa, Mar 20, 1902" and "When land and sea divides us and my face you cannot see, Remember that you have a friend that always thinks of thee = D X P Nov. 17, 1902." On the page facing the title page is "Benj. Williams, Islesboro, ME, July 14 - 04" and on the title page is stamped "Property of the American Seaman's Friend Society, 70 Wall St., New York"
Desdemona is not listed in either Islesboro history, but listed is Nason E. Pendleton, b. 1855, son of Benjamin Pendleton (Farrow p 248), married Abbie Rolerson, b 1860, dtr of Phineas Rolerson. In the 2nd History, Capt Nase is said to have been caretaker of the last of the Pendleton schooners the F.C.Pendleton anchored and sunk in Seal Harbor. Abbie ran a small store (History 1893-1983 p. 227). They are listed in the genealogy section p. 317 but Desdemona is not.
