Description

An octagon shaped pendant most likely from China made from an unknown composition of organic materials - possibly sawdust and glue. The piece was cast. On one side in the central octagon shape is a relief of a Buddah figure. The form above has Chinese characters. Below is lotus flower. On the other side the central symbol is the yin-yang sign surrounded by lines - In Oriental philosophy these markings each have a specific meaning. Above are more Chinese characters and below the lotus flower. It hangs on a woven silk cord. A Chinese knot and gold painted bead hang below the pendant, as does silk fringe. The cord is spring green. Pendant size = 2 1/8 inches x 1 1/8 inches Cord = 17 1/2 inches Fringe = 5 1/2 inches Inscription: There is an inscription written in Chinese characters. Special Significance: Found with belongings believed to have come from Zoa Coombs' home. Zoa's D.O.B. = 1894
