Letter to Mr. Nathan Williams on Pendleton Brother's letterhead, Moore Street, New York, offices. Dated May 23, 1928. missive concerns a missing shaft, which the writer supposes to have been stolen.
Dear Nathan:-
I wrote Victor Monday morning to bring back the shaft and received a letter to-day stating he did not have it. Now if he has it he has it probably concealed somewhere and would not bring it out. If you know anybody up or down the Island who is fitting up a boat, you might get them to go to him and see if they could buy a shaft from him. Wish you could keep your eye out and if you get any information on it let me know, as whoever got this I will give them a trip if I find out who did it. Of course, some of those kids might have taken it and sold it for junk.
I will send down the varnish in a few days, and the hinges I got for the boat you can get from Alice.
Very truly yours,
Ed
