A piece of coral of indeterminate shape approximately 6 inches x 5 inches containing many depressions and holes of various sizes.
SPECIAL SIGNIFICANCE: The coral was used as ballast in a ship probably trading in the South Seas and taking cargo to New England and Canada. This coral was found off Newfoundland. See note in donor file.
PERSONAL ASSOCIATIONS: It belonged to his grandfather, Captain James Calvin Scott.
