Centennial Quilt (1776 - 1876) 66 inch x 74 inch quilt containing on the top cloth alternating red squares with white dots and patterned identical squares of several colors of "flowers". The background is white. The backing cloth is the liberty bell centennial cloth. It consists of alternating strips of pictures of the liberty bell with "1776 - 1876" underneath and strips of names of the original 13 colonies, the names being repeated several times per strip. New yellow satin ribbon has been added to the top and bottom edges.
SPECIAL SIGNIFICANCE: This quilt was made in celebration of the centennial.
PERSONAL ASSOCIATIONS: This quilt was made by Elsie's mother (Vesta E. Wood Chatto) when she was 16 years old. She gave it to Elsie in 1922.
