Description

Exhibit is contained in a wooden case approximately 24 1/2 inches x 14 1/2 inches x 2 inches with a glass front 23 1/2 inches x 13 1/2 inches. A beige backing contains 8 items fixed to it. There are 4 medals, 1 rank stripe, 2 braids, and one photograph of the marine unit (?) on the ship, DELAWARE. Service Medals indicate that he fought at "Aisne", "Aisne-Marne", "St Mihiel", "Meuse-Argonne", and "Defensive Sector" (?). SPECIAL SIGNIFICANCE: These belongings were of the only Islesboro resident to die in WW1 -- Guy Malcolm Yeaton. Notes: The various marine corps belongings of Guy Malcolm Yeaton (killed in the 1st World War) have been collected together and are displayed in a glass case. The work was done by Pine Tree Gallery.
