Sadiron and Handle -- Sadiron 6 5/8 inches x 3 3/4 inches x 2 inches Iron, made of three pieces: 2 metal parts, a heavy bottom and sides a separate top piece attached to the bottom with two heavy screws, and a removable handle of wood and metal.
The top part contains the inscriptions listed below. It also contains a ridge 6/16 inch high and 2 1/2 inches long. The ridge surrounds a hole 1 5/8 inches x
5/8 inch divided in half by a metal band. A removable handle fits into the hole.
The handle is made of two pieces, a wooden curved handle 5 1/2 inches long and 2 1/2 inches high and approximately 1 inch thick, and a bottom piece of metal containing a metal latch with a wooden knob that released or secured the handle when the knob was moved up or down.
