Description

Carpenter's square consisting of two parts-- (1) a metal piece 6 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide with markings for 1 inch - 4 inches and tapering to a point on the other end where it joins with the handle, and (2) the handle which begins at a point and increases to approximately 1 1/2 inches in width and 4 inches in length. The handle is made of hard wood and contains a depression 1 7/8 inches x 1/2 inch to accommodate the carpenter's fingers. The handle is attached with brass fittings and is protected by a brass plate where the two parts meet to form a right angle. PERSONAL ASSOCIATIONS: This belonged to Dick Steele's grandfather, Captain J. C. Scott.
