16 inches x 15 inches x 3 inches. Wooden drawer with lip on both sides (approximately 1/2 inch wide on the top) for sliding the drawer in and out of the register. At the back of the drawer is a metal box and also a square box with a knob approximately 4 inches long.
Inside the drawer is a box measuring 14 3/4 inches x 7 5/8 inches x 1 3/4 inches. Box has 4 depressions, each 1 1/2 inches deep, 3 1/4 inches in diameter and two in back, each 1 1/2 inches deep, 5 inches x 3 1/2 inches. Cash box slides back and forth.
SPECIAL SIGNIFICANCE: Donor wrote "This is the cash draw from the first post office, mid-Island, that was in the L. T. & D. E. Pendleton Store.
"This draw was lent, to be used at the Snack Shack - early 60's, - with promise of it's final ownership being the Historical Society.
"I hope this will be appropriately displayed, so all and many may enjoy it."
