A wooden case, once covered in leather, but apparently burned. 21 1/2 inches x 12 inches. Has two metal latches and a lock.
The inside is lined in purple velvet. The inside contains the trial lenses for testing the eyes, a pair of frames for the trial lenses and the keys to the case.
There are six divisions of trial lenses.
Spherical Convex - 59 lenses
Cylindrical Convex - 38 lenses
Cylindrical Concave - 40 lenses
Spherical Concave - 62 lenses
Unmarked Lenses - 11 lenses
Colored Lenses - 18 lenses
The trial lenses are 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
The frames made out of steel, with a 5/8 inch long heartshaped handle.
The frame for testing eyes is also made of steel. Made to hold the trial lenses there are clips on the rims and two pegs to hold them in place. Around the top of the eye rims there is a metal strip with numbers in increments of 5 marked from 15 - 165 from right to left. The entire frame is adjustable. The eye frames are on threaded pin so that you can adjust the distance. The nose piece is on a rotating hinge.

SPECIAL SIGNIFICANCE: Belonged to Dr. Larrabee. He was the island physician from 1909 - 1920's.
