Description

The flexible guard eyeglasses are generally preferred when glasses are not constantly worn, as they are easiy adjusted to the nose. The glasses are made of lenses, and rims with flexible cork-lined guards and oval spring. The oval shaped lenses are 1 inch x 1 1/2 inches. They are attached to another by a flexible strip of metal which is screwed to one end and links to the oval spring of the cork-lined guards. 4 inches x 1 1/2 inches An identical pair of glasses is shown in the Sears and Roebuck catalogue of 1902. (Copy on the description sheet.) SPECIAL SIGNIFICANCE: Belonged to her father, Dr. Larrabee. Dr Larrabee was the island physician from 1909 - 1920's.
