Wooden chair, painted a dull red. Total height including knobs at the top of the back is 43 inches. Seat measures 16 1/2 inches x 16 1/2 inches. There are 8 rungs, 2 on each side. The front and back rungs are higher than the 2 side rungs. (Three rungs need to be inserted into the legs.) The front rungs have circular grooves in between the narrower part of the rungs so that one could sit with one's shoes or feet on the rungs. The back of the chair has two sides also grooved and ending in a knob. The back is 15 7/8 inches long and approximately 4 inches to 4 1/2 inches wide with scroll-like designs.
