Wooden chair measures 34 5/8 inches x 15 7/8 inches x 15 1/8 inches Rush bottom seat measures 14 7/8 inches x 15 1/8 inches Chair back has 3 wooden slats, curved, measuring 12 7/8 inches x 2 3/4 inches x 3/8 inch Front slat measures 13 1/8 inches x 3 inches x 1/4 inch and is 8 inches off the floor Two side slats on either side measure 12 3/8 inches long x 1 3/8 inches x 1/4 inch and is 6 inches off the floor Back slat is 3 inches x 13 inches x 3/8 inch and is 7 1/2 inches off the floor Front legs 18 inches long - 1 1/8 inches x 1 1/8 inches Chair back and legs are 34 5/8 inches x 1 1/4 inches x (1 1/2 - 7/8 inch at the top of the chair) This could be a knitting (netting) work chair. The back leg spindles of this chair were used for holding the tops of lobster funnel nets or fish nets as they were being knit. The chair is low so that a child could be esated to stabilize the work station - and maybe read a book or listen to family stories and sea shanties (?)
