Signal Flag from large ship, 10 yards long, 4.5 yards wide tapering to 2.5 yards. Red stripes surrounding a field of white with the name HELEN B CROSBY in black letters. Material is a coarse and loose- woven, probably linen. This name does not appear in either History of Islesboro, but Phoebe Pendleton Crosby is mentioned as a "opera singer" and two Crosby men served in WWI.
