Barrel-shaped pocketbook 11.5" x 6.5" x 6.5". Wooden ribs woven with raffia braided strips, black cord, natural wood strips and black wood strips. The circumferance bound with two 3/4" leather straps, rivetted on body of pocketbook, with tooled metal locking clasps. Two round leather handles fitted with tooled metal. End panels of black corduroy bound with raffia braid.
Emily Whitehead, original donor, said "this belonged to my great aunt Lucretia Coombs."
Lucretia S Veazie, b. 6/6/1850, daughter of John Veazie Jr (2/3/1818) and Deborah Veazie (12/28/1859), married Edwin Coombs (to be identified). Emily Lucretia Whitehead was her great-niece.
