From the set of tools belonging to and well-used by Frederick A Lee, master mason of Islesboro during the first half of the 20th century. See book "Summer Cottages of Islesboro" p. 119. This plumb bob is brass with a metal tip, 2.75" long, tapering to a sharp point . The line is still attached to the top which has a mushroom shape, a hole in the top and neck in order to attach a line which allows it to hang "free." The plumb line with weighted "bob" is used to determine verticality.
