From the set of tools belonging to and well-used by Frederick A Lee, master mason of Islesboro during the first half of the 20th century. See book "Summer Cottages of Islesboro" p. 119. This metal tool is to shape mortar between stones or bricks. It is 11" long, slightly S-shaped, e.g. the center 2" is angled and is formed from a 3/8" square length of metal. Each 4" end tapers to a blunt beveled point for shaping mortar.
