From the set of tools belonging to and well-used by Frederick A Lee, master mason of Islesboro during the first half of the 20th century. See book "Summer Cottages of Islesboro" p. 119. This metal tool is to shape mortar between stones or bricks. The tool is formed from a 3/4: x 1/4" flat length of metal. It is 10.75" long, slightly S-shaped,( e.g. the center 2" is angled). Each 4" end tapers to a 3/4" wide beveled point for shaping mortar between bricks or stones..
