This album is a small elegant album for photographs, tintypes etc. It measures 5.25" x 6" and is 2 1/4" thick. The cover is leather with an intricate pressed design. It was made in Boston (no other identification). Presumably it was issued shortly after the Civil War: the first picture, obviously commercial, is of the apotheosis of Lincoln, ascending through clouds, in the arms of Washington who is preparing to put a laurel wreath on Lincoln's head. The last frames in the book are one of Lincoln (with beard) and the other is of Washington, in uniform, with Martha, the Custis children, a copy of a painting. The album contains some tintypes, some photos. Several are of soldiers (Civil War uniforms I think). None are identified. This album presumably belonged to Benny Heald since it was found in the Heald house.
Randy Purinton thinks one image (#3) might be George Brown. (????)
