Description

A very large water hand pump for exterior use. Iron. 73" high, 12" diameter bottom flange, 12" across at nozzle, c. 18" across at end of long pump handle which is 36" long. Imprinted in one side of the brace for the pump handle is "F.E.MYERS & BRO." and the word "malleable" and on the other side is " ASHLAND O." , on the pump handle "1014." Nothing is legible on the bottom flange. The faucet or nozzle pipe is bent 90 degrees so that the water would flow down. It has a round shutoff tap on top. Since the pump is so tall, and the action of the handle would be vigorous, there is a brace at 45 degree angle from below the mid[point of the shaft to the ground. A bolt is missing from the tap and the iron is well worn and pitted. Possibly in working order with new leathers. Thought to have come from a house on the south side of Meadow Pond, but a similar pump is remembered as having been on the well at IHS when the building housed the school, and/or across the road at the Nason Pendleton house..
