The image has several weathered speckles. It is framed in a clean wood frame that matches LH.2022.001.037.
Attached label reads:
" At a stated meeting of Island Lodge, No. 89, F. and A.M., held July 28, '98, the following resolutions on out worthy Brother, James C. Scott, were unanimously adopted: Born in Islesboro, Sept 10, 1856, received into our Lodge, Dec, 25, 1890, and while on a voyage from Florida, Feb. 5, 1898, bound to Boston, he was taken in the prime of life, with all his bright hopes and prospects for the future before him, and received his summons to that unknown country from whose bourne no traveller ere return. He was an estimable citizen, a zealous member of our Order, and a devoted and affectionate husband, and parent.
Resolved, That in the death of our brother, we have lost a true friend whom we all respected, and whose memory we shall long cherish. Through this memorial we wish to extend out sympathy to his bereaved widow and relatives in their great sorrow.
Resolved, That the Lodge be draped in mourning for the space of three months; these resolutions spread upon a page of our Records, to perpetuate his memory, and a printed copy sent to his relatives.
