Description

2 7/8" x 9.75" card on which are mounted a chunk of wood, two nails, and a button with this inscription: "1766. Wood Nails & Button come from the first framed house on Islesboro, ME on south end called Boardman Point. Built by Wm. Pendleton about 1766 taken down by Thomas Boardman 3rd over one hundred years old in good condishion suller [ed:cellar] under half of house the other half was left with the stumps just as they were cut and here is part of one of the cat-spruce stumps hewed frame sills posts & plait all 12 x 12 inches, rafters 7 x 7 inches walls planked up and down fasten on with oak trunnels 1 inch squire chimney 8 x 8 feet house 26 x 35 feet" [ed: misspellings as originally written]
