LH.2022.001.041Description
This is a reproduced image of an oil painting, featuring a two masted schooner coming into port. There is a second ship, which appears to be of a similar fleet, just off the stern of the front schooner. The schooner has all sails set and it waving three flags, one of which reads "R. P. B" and the other reads "Winyaw". Both of which are painted backwards.
The background seems to have distant mountains and potentially a lighthouse.
The bottom reads in faint cursive " Bring Winyaw of Bucksport.... 1889" The rest is illegible.
The image is framed in a wooden frame, painted gold with 8 flowery carvings along the edges.
There is an attached label that reads: " Quadrant Owned by: Robert S. Leach, A.B. Loaned by: Thomas C. Pendleton"
