Moncrief Spring Park, Charles K. Hamilton, known as “The Daredevil of the Air”, raced his Curtis biplane, the first heaver-than-air flying machine seen in Jacksonville, against a Cadillac driven by Dexter Kelly. The biplane soared to the height of 2,500 feet and reached a speed of 60 miles per hour in a dive, yet the automobile won the five mile race.Collection
