I went out to walk this morning and I went into the largest dry goods store they have here, there is an upstairs department and they let me wander around. I bought some gingham. I paid 8 cents a yard. Father is about the same. He went to see a Mr. Darnell at the Cookman Institute. The Institute is an Educational concern. I hope some day we all meet in good health, good spirit with clean faces and clean hands and clean consciences in the good old city of churches." Letter from Cede from Enterprise, Florida on Febauary 14, 1885. " We are home and settled at Enterprise on Monroe Lake. Impossible for us to get in hotel. They are turning away 20 to 30 people a day. Going to return to Sanford. It was a hard night and I do not like traveling by water. Made the acquaintance of Mr. & Mrs. Morgan from New York. Father has ordered two boxes of oranges, one for Uncle John and for Aunt Amy. There is splendid hunting and fishing, ehey shoot deer, geese and ducks and smaller game to say nothing of alligators.
