Scope and Content

This collection comprises information and interests of Linda Lockwood Smith and her family . Her father, E.L. Lockwood was born in 1896 in Macon, GA. He moved to Jacksonville and opened a drugstore in 1932. He expanded to several drugstores throughout the City. In 1947 he organized a wholesale drug business called Jax Drugs and began selling his drug stores to the druggists that worked for him. He and his wife lived in Holly Oaks Forest and had five children: Jack, Jim, Frances, Allen and Linda. The items in the collection were collected by Linda throughout her life. Linda was a librarian and worked for many years at the University of North Florida. See also the Lawrence V.Smith Collection (2013.16), her husband's collection at Jacksonville Historical Society.
