"The Florida Museum of Medicine and Public Health will be housed in the original headquarters of the Florida State Board of Health in downtown Jacksonville. This building was known for years as the Julia Street Building because, when built in 1911, it faced Julia Street. In 1999, the Florida Legislature renamed the building the Sowder Building after Dr. Wilson T. Sowder, Florida's longest serving State Health Officer, 1945-74."Collection
