Contains photographs of: Withlacoochee River -- Old slave market St. Augustine -- Excavating shell mound at New Smyrna showing foundation of an old fort -- A bunch of oranges (on a tree) -- Grapefruit (on a tree) -- On the road between Cocoa and Rockledge (rural scene along river) -- Old Fort Dallas at Miami -- Old Fort Redoubt Pensacola -- Scene at the surf (unknown beach with waves crashing onto sand). Photogravure reproductions of photographs of Florida, with accompanying text "Historical notes" by Major George R. Fairbanks. Part 6 of an 11 part narrative on the history of Florida. Narrative from each book continues from the previous book covering a subsequent period of time, ending at the time of publication in 1904. Part 6 covers 1702 to 1763. A collection of art photoengraving's of different Florida locales taken around the turn of the 20th century is interspersed with the narrative.
