Description

Lee Street Viaduct and Hotel DeSoto Architect: Also known as Park or Bridge Street Viaduct. The viaduct crosses the Florida East Coast Railway tracks and McCoys Creek. It was built during the 1920s. The viaduct connects Park Street in Riverside to Lee Street in LaVilla and fronts the Jacksonville Terminal and Hotel DeSoto. In 1984, City officials approved plans to try and preserve parts of the landmark. Plans included connecting with Water Street at grade level and elevate south of the intersection. The work was expected to cost $3 million if major parts of the existing viaduct could be saved. Hotel DeSoto 15-17 Lee Street (opposite Jacksonville Terminal)
