The Womans Club of Jacksonville
861 Riverside Ave.
Architect: Mellen C. Greeley
The Tudor Revival style was chosen to blend harmoniously with the neighborhood of Riverside (the Cummer mansion stood next door and perhaps was a factor in deciding the Tudor Revival style). The structure was built at a cost of $60,000 and features a half timber, half tile roof.
By the 1920s the Womans Club had outgrown the old clubhouse on East Duval Street and purchased the riverfront property in 1926 for $125,000. Greeley was commissioned by the Club to design the new facility.Collection
