S.S. West Erral on the St. Johns River. The S.S. West Erral was an American built steamer who's main purpose was a transport/cargo ship. It was built by the Los Angeles Shipbuilding and Drydock Corporation for the United States government in 1919. It was discontinued as a U.S. government ship in 1927 and went through various other owners until it ran aground in on June 19, 1958 and was lost. The name of the West Erral at the time was the "Higashi Maru", a Japanese cargo steamer.Collection
