Eartha Mary Magdalene White (1876-1974) and Mary McLeod Bethune (1875-1955) standing at 611 W. Ashley Street. According to the 1950 Polk's Jacksonville City Directory, 611 W. Ashley Street is F.R. Davis Jewelry Store. The store was owned by F.R. Davis and was primarily a "tops in watch and jewelry repairing" business. At 613 W Ashley Street is the Clara White Mission Building. The reflection in the window, "ARCADE" is most likely one of the three billiards halls on the street. Betsch's Billiards was located at 612 W. Ashley Street. Betsch also owned "Betsch's Restrooms" and "Betsch's Beatuy Shop". All of these businesses were African American establishments and owned by John T. Betsch and John C. Betsch. According to the 1941 Polk's Jacksonville City Directory, the Clara White Mission occupied 611-15 W. Ashley Street.
