Duval HotelDescription
Duval Hotel Hotel
This hotel originally stood on the most historic site in Jacksonville, the site of the log-cabin built by L.Z. Hogans, the first house built within the limits of Jacksonville at the northwest corner of Hogan and Forsyth Streets.
It was built as the Nichols House in 1975, by W.M. Nichols at a cost of $63,000. Nichols sold the hotel to J.S. Turner who leased the property to General B. Lewis, who renamed it the Duval Hotel.
The hotel was not destroyed in the fire of 1901, but was burned in March 1892, with no injury. In the following year, the pictured Duval Hotel was built and opened in 1893 by the managing company, Dodge & CullenCollection
