Orphanage, The Church Home for Boys Chapel, Mary Packer CummingsScope and Content
Commerically printed hard-bound Holy Bible, containing the Old and New Testaments. The Bible was presented to The Church Home for Boys Chapel (Keystone) by Caroline Hallowes Dancy (Daughter), "In loving memory of her mother and father, Mildred C. and Miller H. Dancy." Date donated June 2, 1946.
St. Johns Parish began operating Keystone as a home for boys in 1921 and continued until June of 1947 when it closed. It was reopened in September 1948 with Lee and Barbara McCubbin as House Father and Mother. It remained open until closing in 1953. The Bible was used in the Boys Home Chapel until it finally closed.
Also included in the collection are three (3) individual page articles detailing the resolution of Mary Packer Cummings, youngest daughter of Asa Packer, estate holdings, including St. Johns Church in Jacksonville, Fl., the dwelling house, contents, and grounds known as Key Stone Bluff, near Jacksonville, Fl., in trust to be used as a Home for Children on the plan of the Church Home at Jonestown, Penn.
