Naval Air Station Jacksonville an experimental XP2V-1 naval patrol aircraft. This particular bomber, bureau number 48237, was the first P2V prototype ever built. This aircraft first flew on April 12th, 1945. The P2V "Neptune" was designed as a long-range land-based patrol aircraft, capable of reconnaissance, a light attack role, and anti-submarine warfare. The P2V type was in production for 17 years, ending in 1962 with over 1000 aircraft delivered.
