Scope and Content

This is a commercially printed hard cover book, 9 x 12, at the spine it reads, "Eighth Census of the United States 1860, Mortality and Miscellaneous Statistics." It was printed in 1866 and contains the 1860 census of the United States. The census book was used as a scrapbook by Kenneth Merrill's grandmother, Mrs. Helen Perley Small Merrill. She used the pages of this book to paste and store newspaper clippings and other items of interest to her dealing with Jacksonville, Florida and Cherryfield, Maine. The scrapbook was inherited by Helen Pearly Small Merrill's daughter, Mrs. Henry (Helen) Slappey, passed to Kenneth A. Merrill, Sr. and then to his son, Kenneth A. Merrill, Jr. Detailed inventory available.
