1977 annual report: Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Great American Oil Company of Texas. It is a Florida-based corporation which provides residential and commercial mortgage banking services, sells complete lines of personal and commercial insurance, operates resort and club facilities and develops, sells and manages real estate.

It was founded in 1884 as the Telfair Stockton Company. It was acquired in 1964 by General American Oil Company and operated until 1983 when it was broken up by Great American's new owner Phillips Petroleum Company. On July 22,1983 SWD was acquired by the First National Bank of Boston. (1983 annual report) Prior to its breakup the company was headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida and was the developer of Ponte Vedra Beach in the early 1930s.Collection
