Information includes: In early slavery days, the St. Johns River was a favorite point for the debarkation of Africans and a ship yard was maintained on Arington River for building slave and pirate ships. -- On Mill or Strawberry Creek the first water power mill built in Florida was located. -- Richard Mill Grant plus few other grants created Arlington -- Plantation period had large plantations up to the Civil War worked exclusively by slave labor raising cotton, cane and corn. -- Organization of the Alderman Realty Company who bought the Richard Mill Grant and subdivided area into building sites -- The establishment of the Arlington Ferry for whom A. C. Macy was General Manager ran 2 ferries at the foot of St. Johns street in Arlington capable of holding 8 automobiles each for the 15 min trip. -- Arlington Community Club drawn from entire community resulted in many betterments.
