Agnes Pylant was a native of Florida and grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. She attended Judson College, graduated from Texas Christian University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. While at the seminary, she met and married Lake R. Pylant, a musician and later a pastor and college teacher. They had two daughters. Agnes worked as minister of youth and education and as a college teacher. After the death of her husband, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to establish and direct the Department of Church Recreation for the Southern Baptist Convention. She was in great demand as a speaker and entertainer across the country until her death at the age of 85.Collection
