Dr. Carita Doggett Corse was the State Director of the Federal Writers' Project in Florida. Additionally, "Florida boats" is included, sponsored by University of Florida, co-sponsored by Florida State Department of Public Instruction, 1941. It is a carbon copy, 53 p. Included are stories told by Capt. Brickley, leader of the boat pilots who lived in Pilot Town, to his 12 year old nephew, Dan. Capt. Brickley knew the stories of the river, those from books as well as from rivermen. Contents include: story of a dugout, 3 royal flagships, Florida Coast Guard, old and new, East Florida's navy, The Key wreckers, America I, The grand tour, The three friends, Coastwise ships. Last item, Fort Jefferson, is missing its cover. It was the "Devil's Island of America", a fortress-prison, rising from Garden Key, 1 of the Dry Tortuga Islands, about 70 miles westward from Key West.
