The poems and artworks in this book are a tribute to Treaty Oak and to all trees whose beauty and permanence have enriched the lives of so many people. Originally known as the "The Great Oak" until Pat Moran, a newspaper reporter, gave it the name Treaty Oak". There are 4 large oaks in Duval County, which, when based on the grading system for oak trees, compare. They are the Timquan, Second Street, and Keystone Episcopal that attained some notoriety. But they can't match the the majestic spread of Treaty Oak." According to ancestry, Mr. Rivers was born in Jacksonville on Nov. 2, 1925 and died April 5, 1997.
