5 volumes : illustrations ; 23 cm The Junior Journal by kids for kids sponsored by the Learning Lab. (Attic, 709 Lomax Street, Jax 32204) History: vol.1, no.1 (April 1983) - vol.1, no. 5 (Fall 1984); missing vol. 1, no.3 plus Children's guide to Jacksonville. Frequency: 5 issues It is a magazine written by elementary grade children for kids their age. It is a free enterprise project - a business. The kids formed a company, sold ads, kept records, wrote articles, laid out out the magazine, and will sell the the product. It will be published 3x a year (April, August, late fall). Each issue will have a new staff. Call the Learning Lab. if you want to be on the staff...vol. 1, no. 1, page 4. Library has: Volume 1, number 1 (April 1983) -- Volume 1, number 2 (Back to school 1983) -- Volume 1, number 4 (Summer 1984) -- Volume 1, number 5 (Fall 1984). -- Children's guide to Jacksonville (60th anniversary project of the Junior League of Jacksonville). Separate informational 2 page photocopy by Jane McCullagh titled Short History of the Junior Journal of Jacksonville, Florida 1982-1984. Genesis occurred when Mary Lou Davis (Mrs. Dano) wanted a project for her son, Ben, at the Learning Lab, in Riverside. After the few issues were produced, the Junior League of Jacksonville approached the Junior Journal about sponsoring an edition entitled "The Children's guide to Jacksonville" which was included in the archives of the University of Florida for "its historical significance".
