Little Florida lady by Dorothy C. Paine.
This children's book is a story of a little girl from New York who moves with her family to Jacksonville, Florida in the late 19th Century. It is a period piece.
Beth has many hair raising adventures involving either the river/ocean, fires or a runaway horse. There are also lovable dogs, friends, family members and household help. An interesting comment from Beth's mother after one of Beth's adventures was that all of this outdoor play was making her self reliant.
