The new United Services Organization Center (USO) was dedicated on Feb. 14, 1942 in Jacksonville Beach and replaced the USO located on the 2d floor of a building located at Beach Blvd and North Second Street. Jack Jones, a community leader, persuaded the city of Jax Beach to donate land for a new Center. It was well-staffed with 2 Senior Hostesses, 40 Junior Hostesses and several civilian volunteers. Two former Junior Hostesses were interviewed, Jane Craig and Toni Hutchinson. Includes information on various activities held at the USO including a monthly birthday party and the help provided by Naval Station Mayport bakers as there were so many Nov. 1942 birthdays a very large cake was needed.Collection
