The History of Mayport : The Saga of the chow line by Joe Pickett. 2 copies This article was submitted to the Public Affairs Office of Naval Station Mayport on September 28,1990 per pencil notation in upper right corner for approval and publication in the Mirror, the Naval Station Mayport base newspaper. In the June 27, 1942 issue of the Mayport Dispatch, the forerunner of today's Station newspaper, The Mirror, a play titled "Early chow" or "All hands in the watch relief line, but not a soul at inspection" was noted. This one-act play was written by an anonymous person signing himself as "Sol Tee". The playwright wanted to establish for the public at large, the secret thoughts and feelings of the men towards the Blue Jackets, Mayport Section Base's baseball team.
