Published on the occasion of an exhibition organized by Hollis Taggart Galleries presented from Nov. 28, 2000-Jan. 13, 2001.
Introduction by Nicholas Kilmer, grandson of Mr. Frieseke.
Introduction: "As an experiment, Frederick set out to recall scenes familiar from his childhood in Florida. Working in watercolor, he began to create the images that appear in this book. In 1934, his daughter, Frances, wrote a memoir of her childhood in Giverny during the war. She gave the book to her mother which also included illustrations supplied by Frieseke. Impressed by his daughter's efforts, Frieseke dictated his own boyhood memories to Frances, who jotted them down, probably while modeling for her father. He recounts life on the Florida frontier in the 1880s."Collection
