Description

xiii, 247, [7] p. ; 25 cm. Consolidation: Jacksonville, Duval County by Richard Martin. 1968. This is considered first printing which later versions note as 1st edition. A reprinting by Crawford press without revision of the 1968 ed. by Convention Press in 1973 is mistakenly referred to as 2d edition. Since World War II, city-county consolidation has been achieved less than a half dozen times. This book is about the factors which led to the successful passage of city-county consolidation in Jacksonville and Duval County, Florida. Pictures on lining papers. Appendices contain texts of enabling amendments to Florida constitution, Senate bill 1522 creating the Local Government Study Commission of Duval County with a list of members, investiture address for consolidated government by J.J. Daniel, and organizational charts of pre- and post-consolidation governments. Includes bibliographical references at the end of each chapter. Donated by author in memory of Richard P. Daniel.
